Originally coming from the world of painting and fine arts, Jessica Dew formally studied Jewellery making at MIT and Hungry Creek in Auckland, New Zealand, before founding Screaming Jewellery in 2018.
Like Xena: Warrior Princess, Red Sonja, and Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Screaming Jewellery takes the concept of heavy metal medievalism, fused with staunchly lowbrow fruitiness, and transforms this into quintessential campy gothy shiny stuff.
Along with objet d’art, Jess has a magpie’s eye for pop-culture detritus. Comic books, adverts, cartoons about magical rings: She skilfully channels this passion into the classy permanence of her fine jewellery, elevating the aesthetic of her favourite cultural trash.
